hi,
I have an issue where after I have given my scoobe a bit of a roasting, smoke comes though the bonnent vents when stationary!
On looking, there appears to be one very small leak that is on the drivers side on what appears to be the exhaust manifold!?? Really low down!? Isthat right?
I can not see where the small amount sa oil is coming from but have read about rocker covers which seem to be similar symtoms to mine. Is this what it is and how do I actually go about resolving?
Please help!

Cheers for that. It is def not steam tho. The more I read, the more I am convinced it is the rocker cover gasket as everything described in one of those mes sums up what is happening.

Mine actually turned out to be smoke not steam, sorry I meant for you to look at the messages from about 1/2 way down that post..

what kind of cost am I looking at for the gasket?

 

Parts cost £66 and I would expect to be charged 1hours labour maybe 2..

I have the parts list for it around here somewhere..

it will be power steering fluid more than likely the seal goes between the top and bottom of the tank.

 

There is indeed a leak that appears on the power steering tank but this leak usually runs down the front of the cambelt cover not the cam cover and Scoobycar says it is low down not high up and on the front of the engine..

The power steering leak would be cheaper though.. lol

Hi mate mine turned out to be the crankshaft seal
£10 for the seal local garage charged me £60 labour to fit

i had the same problems, was a camshaft seal on r/hand head, oil set alight on the manifold.
seal was £4.50 from subaru dealer and took me 1/2hr to fit.
