Question

Hello everyone

I am only in to my 4 week of Subaru Impreza ownership and I think I have a turbo noise like something is rubbing.
My Car is a Catalunya 1997 model with 46k miles on it.
The symptoms are around the 3,000 rev mark when I hear a rubbing noise like the turbine is touching the turbo housing. It doesn't do it all the time though just every now and then.
Does this sound like my turbo is on it's way out. I am surprise at this kind of mileage it is doing this since I have own turbo cars before which have done a far high mileage.
Any advice anyone.

cheers

Gary

could it be the heat shield???
If the car is still warrantied you can take it back to the dealer and see what he thinks
if not would have to hear it

Hi Tony

Is it the turbo heat shield that causes the problem. What do I need to look for ?? Do they come loose ??
what sort of a noise do they make.

Regards

Favourite shield to come loose is the one round the front of the exhaust (look down between the radiator and engine on the left). Bottom part of the shield normally breaks round the moounting screws.
