There are a choice of oils you can use,

Mobil Motorsport 15/50
Castrol GTX Magnatec
Silkolene
etc,

Whatever you do, make sure it is fully synthetic (Powerful engine = good oil)

In terms of the filter......... NEVER, EVER use anything but a OE subaru filter and washer.

Finally, a wee tip. Fill the oil filter with the new oil before you but it on or you can end up with the "check engine" light coming on (not good)

Enjoy!!!!!!!

Hi all
I'd prefer Motul 15-50, Castrol 10-60, or Valvoline 15-50 etc.
I disagree Russel with your choice of oils, of course fully synthetic, but not Mobil, Magnatex or such viscosity if you herd drive (I am sure you do it) your car.
Or, this is my opinion!
Cheers
Jim

Sorry to appear silly but how can you say that 15/50 Mobil Motorsport is wrong yet you recommend Motul 15/50 or Valvoline 15/50?

Eh?

Looks like the weather out there is getting to you!!!!!!! (No malice intended)

Cool

Ok mate, I mean the viscosity of Magnatex of course!
About Mobil I have no personal experience, but if you look in the previous threads (Big end bearing etc) you'll see much people advice against Mobil 15-50(for the Impreza only).
Bear in mind that all the oils with same viscosity are not the same, as all the turbos 2000 cc are not Impreza!
With that said, I used to have Aral 5-50(not famous in UK) since last oil-change, but after reading these threads in Scoobynet I like to bee (or just feel) sure about my choice...
May be I am wrong, the professionals can give you more explanations, I just follow their suggestions.
Regards
Jim
