i have just discoved a loud rattle comming from my engine as the revs fall to 4K the car sounds fine at all other revs, even at 4K when the revs are climbing...... its only when they hit 4K with the revs falling does the noise re-appear....is just as if some has droped a bag of nuts in the engine bay....and only lasts for a second .. can anyone shed some light onto this ?????? thanks

Sounds like you've got a rattling exhaust heatshild, nothing too serious, just annoying really. Shouldn't be too expensive to fix either.

I've been dealing with exhaust shield rattles for years. That is what it sounds like. If you can get it up in the air and holds those revs it's easy to find out where it's coming from. They get little cracks in them and then rattle at specific revs. My current rattle would require removal of the bloody manifold to fix - so it's staying!

I had a rattle on mine, found a loose nut on front heatshield and it sorted it, for about a month. Got another one now, DOH!

since changing to a new exhaust manifold, i have noticed a rattling sound at the same revs as well . So, no doubt something is loose in the area around the manifold. fixing it tomorrow first thing in the morning.
