Help with Boost gauges
Can anyone help me!, I have triple Omini gauges in my car, only problem is they don't always light up, seems like I have a dodgy connection, sometime they will work for a day & won't light up again for weeks!, other than that the gauges work fine.
I have just pulled them out & there is a white & black wire coming out of gauge the white wires go off to a splice in the radio loom onto a black wire, the black wire coming out of the gauges was'nt connectede to anything, it's got a C connector on it, I have tried putting it behind a metal nut incase it was the earth but still no luck, no lights..
Can anyone suggested the correct connections to make & where to nconnect onto the car, I may be better running new power & earth to the gauges as there are quite a few splices/connectors at the mo.
(Mods please leave in general to get a quicker response, as car in bits)
Thanks for any help

How is the wire spliced into the radio loom? Are you sure you have a good connection?
That wire could be power, or lighting, you'd need to check with a circuit tester to see when the wire to the gauges gets power: when you turn on the ignition (power), or ignition AND lights, (lighting).
The C connection does sound like an earth, I'd be inclined to leave it connected to an earth, BUT: are you sure it's a good earth? Not all screws/bolts etc are good earths.
Thinking about it logically, unless the gauges are "daisy-chained" like Defis, there will have to be a lighting supply to each gauge, or to the first, then paralleled to the next etc etc.
Can you see any such wire(s)? If so, trace it back to where it is spliced in, and check connection.
Post again if nowt works.

alcazar,
Thanks for the info, decided to re-wire it all to be sure, replaced fuse that had blown, cleaned earth, works a treat now, only problem one gauge won't light up, seems to be the bulb.
That will do for now, hands are far too cold now! lol!
Cheers

Cold hands? Goes with the territory.
I've spent time today trying to make the heated rear screen work in the lad's Clio.
Power at the switch, power to the relay, power from the realy, but no power reaches the screen!
Now all I need to know is whether to rip out the headlining, or the side panels and carpets to find the wiring.
Blasted cars!
