Engine transplant - Anyone done one?
Just curious really,
My local scrappie has an STi V5 lump with 2k on it for a couple of grand. Not sure if they will give you the ECU or not but are there any issues cahnging the engine, and ECU to a UK car? (MY96)
What about the registration of your vehicle, does that change?

bennetm.
That would be a nasty transplant to acoomodate.
The engine is a phase two meaning its ignition and idle control systems are very different. It would require the ecu and loom from the car too. Replacing the loom would be a pig of a job.
Once again, as I have said so much recently, pat is the bast man to speak to regarding engine swapping. He may well even be interested in such an engine himself.

It wouldnt be worth the hassle
first of all, you wouldnt be able to take the car to a uk dealer anymore, thus reducing its value, secondly, it would be a pig of a job, thirdly, you would just have the car taken off the road as the emissions wouldnt be anywhere near right
You may as well just chip your car and put a straight through system on, it would give you nearly as much power and you can put your cat on for the MOT
and you would keep the value of the car
