Question

I've had a Falkland Performance downpipe fitted to my UK MY98 a few months ago, but have heard and felt a knocking when cornering hard or going over bumps - the pipe is knocking against the drivers side footwell.

I've had the car up on ramps and there is no bracket securing the pipe to the car. I've tried to fit the Subaru part, but its totally different so another alternative is required.

Can anyone offer advice/assistance ? The Subaru dealer I went to advised getting an exhaust fitters to make up a bracket, and I can't go back to the guys that fitted it as they have closed down. Anyone else had this problem ?

Cheers,

T

Tony.

I think I'd get a bracket on that sharpish. I wouldn't want all that weight swinging about on the back of the turbo.
I would say that any reasonable exhaust fitting centre will have the ability to fabricate a small braket to attach to the original mount point on the gearbox.
It would just be an angled bracket which they would weld to the pipe.
This is all that is on the Scoobysport version and I think that in essence the pipes are a similar shape.

Neil.

Tony - the bracket is bent flush with the pipe - when I got it, my car has the mounting point in the wrong place (apparently common on MY99s ) It should bend it back out perfectly fine.

Subaru main dealer fitted it originally and offered to 'make it fit, but they said it wasn't causing any harm without the bracket as it was firming fixed anyway. I didn't get any knocking with though??
