Any reccomendations for fountain pens? Don't like the look or build quality of Mont Blanc, Parker are too proletariat. Waterman are old fashioned. Caran d'Ache?

I would really like the one in The Man with the Golden Gun that Scaramanga calmly turns into a pistol with his lighter and shoots his boss with - but I doubt that's been brought to market somehow!

Thumbs down

Do your soul a favour, give it to charity instead. A few nice things is fine, but when your spending £00's on something as mundane and irrelevant as a glorified bic biro, the plot is thinning. None of my business really, just an opinion, and you asked for them.

I've already paid nearly £50000 to charity this last year.

If that is true, then accept my humble apologies and go treat yourself to a new pen. Then use it to write another £50k cheque to another charity.

Any chance of a few quid ??

By charity, do you mean taxes ? I guess giving away money with no hope of benefiting personally can be seen as charity..

If he's paid 50k in taxes, then either he earns a packet or he's got a crap accountant.

I've got a drawer full of Cancer Research pens, and I've not made a donation for over a year.

Where's my cheque book?

You gotta love markets - i have two Montblancs, have had for years, and have never had a single problem - excellent build quality.

Cool

I'd just like to point out that I don't have any 'posh' pens - you gotta draw the line somewhere. Besides I lose about 3 (cheap plastic) pens a day, buying Mont Blanc would mean kissing good-bye to £200 in about 3 hours.

If Montblancs have the same build quality as Rolex watches, then they probably lose 10 words a week.

LOL @ Duck Pond!

Well, I'm hopelessly inconsistent. Got the Rolex but don't see any point in spending crazy money on a pen. Schizophrenic? Must have been smoking too much dope (oh hang on, that's another thread...)

Montblancs aren't crazy money - £120 buys you a nice ballpoint.

If you want a good rollerball get a Cross. They write perfectly, great refills and very smooth.
As for Parker the refills let them down and the quality is not the same as Cross.
Waterman are average and Mont Blanc are for posers.
