I need 1 (possibly 2), but may get all 4 if the price is OK.
Tone Loc said he would like 3 to go with the one he's already got
A number of other people on the board are considering swapping...

Personally, I can't be bothered pratting with the Bosch things - they may only cost £120, but then theres messing about mounting & wiring them and then £60+ on HT leads...

I have talked to Pete @ Prosport who has said that he will look into ordering a fairly significant number to see if there is any scope for a better price. We will need to purchase at least 24 units from him though. (6 cars worth)

Post here if you're interested. The price starts at £59 each inc VAT, plus delivery (retail) and can only get better! More info when it's available!

We also need Pete to get them in at a good price! He's got to make a bit on it, or it's not worth his time...

I've participated in them, but never organised one

drb5 - The group buy is for MY93 to MY96 cars - the coils (little black cylinder things) plug onto the sparkplugs and bolt to the cylinder head. Low tension wires then connects them into the wiring loom. Obviously there are 4 per car.

I suppose you could say they're the wee boxes - there are no HT leads on my Scoob!!

So far... No word from Pete yet, but it's been less than 24 hours!

dnb - 1 or 2
Tone Loc - 3
timmyjmy93wrx - 4
blacky555uk - 4

Total packs 12 or 13

My brother needs 4 for his 93wrx and I need 4 for my 94uk. That should bring the price down a bit.

What are the chances of my MY95 needing new ones? It's only got 28k miles on it if it makes any difference.

Cool

I think i read somewhere that they need replacing at 100,00 kilometres or 5-7 years to be in tip top order but dont quote me
my car only dun 47,000 miles but 10yrs old. they would have been ok for a while but with mods like scooby ecu etc will show any weaknesses in them and or plugs.

The problem with the coil packs are two-fold : with age, the insulating material becomes brittle and cracks, causing faulty electrical connections. Typically they last around 8-10 years, or around 80-100,000 miles. This problem can be made worse if the packs are removed and re-inserted more often, as the packs can be a little awkward to slide on. If brute force is used, it can also shorten their live.

How we getting on with the group buy dnb, any look with pro sport mate?
Cant really leave them for longer than a month, my c/packs seem to be causing the scoob to eat petrol like its going out of fasion and i'm driving as slow as a granny!

timmy - me too about the petrol - 22 mpg this week... It used to do 25 for the same sort of treatment. However, I've not been driving like a granny.

I've been quite busy this weekend - clenching ribs on a wooden boat with my father-in-law and getting some house bits done. I'll speak with Pete in the morning.

As an alternative how about a group buy on HT leads and the twin coil packs off a Post 97? coil pack could be secondhand from Grade A perhaps or new?

Rewire them to fit etc..

Not a bad idea JGM. I know Tony tried this and made it work.

Sorry, but I've been a bit snowed under with work these past couple of days. Unfortunately no real snow this far south yet...

Things will happen though.
