For the last couple of weeks, my ST17 crunches from 1st to 2nd for the first gearchange of the day. Is it the gearbox or clutch? After the first crunch it's fine. I am just getting a bit embarrassed leaving my close what with this and usual cold start problems. Has anyone else suffered the same and what can be done about it?

I seem to have a problem with the clutch on my STi7. When its cold it sometimes feel as though it slips or rides high, often when pulling off cold it bunny hops a little. When its hot, it runs fine. Car has only done 20k! Doesn't answer your question, but might be linked??

Any advice.

 

Erm, are you sure it isn't your foot?

Likeliest cause/cure would be gearbox oil colder than normal. Is the gearbox oil due for a change soonish? If the car's under warranty, just take it down to the dealers and get them to sort it. If it isn't, first thing I'd do would be to change the gearbox oil for some Mobil 1 SHC, Castrol Syntrax or Redline Shockproof Lightweight.
