Hi there,
Are the VF22/24 hybrid turbos any good! I have an STi5, which is soon to be Link'd or Unichipped. Was thinking to change the turbo to above or straight VF22, along with a full exhaust and induction kit. Need a quick reply.
Cheers.

Hi

I haven't heard of a VF22/24 hybrid. In fact as far as I know in that numbering designation there is the VF22, VF23 and VF29.

The concept of fitting a larger turbine varies from person to person. Also when this should/could be done as well also varies. My personal preference is for a larger than stock turbine.

This is where you start to get into propellor head stuff with things like thermal dynamics and such. I am no expert on these matters, but there are numerous texts on the matter.

I'm not too sure I'd go for a VF22/VF24 hybrid. The VF22 and VF23 are the same externally with differences on the compressor. Trust and Apexi both make turbo kits for the WRX and there is an outfit in Melbourne, Australia that convert Garretts to bolt right up. Available in 350, 400 and 450PS applications

This article may prove interesting:
