Hi Glen, yes, if you do a search you,ll find stacks on this.Got some bad publicity in some quarters but I can only comment as a happy customer. My UK car went from around 240 bhp with a scoobysport back box to 276. Torque jump was even more impresive. Have a look on Paul Strongs excllent site with lots of rolling road data from lots of cars.I had mine mapped for 95 ron fuel.I have done over 10,000 miles with the conversion with not so much as an engine check light coming on,

Has anyone had this ECU phase one conversion carried out on their car? It seems good value at £650.

I asked them if they could re-map one for me as i have the chip already fitted to a spare ECU and wanted to try it in the car, they told me they 'no longer do this upgrade due to bad publicity about it'

So i have a spare ECU from my MY97 STI 3 typeR with the PE upgrade, if anyone wants it.

Phil.

I also contacted them (a few months back now) and was told they no longer do this...

Curious that they still advertise it on there web though?

I wonder if they pick and choose who they will do it for?

Just a thought....

I was in there not so long ago and was told by staff that there is a problems with that product. The other comments heard from scoob drivers is that the upgrade had blown their engines up, more tales than less in the last 3 months.

Had my PE Phase 1 for over a year MY98 UK model. 283 bhp 276 Torque I put 20 odd thousand miles on the clock. This included track days. The car went like a rocket. Some wern't so lucky.

Cool

I was one who "wasn't so lucky" with the Phase One Conversion on my STI. After a sad catalogue of failings, I finally had it removed for good when it developed a fault that shut the engine down intermittently with no warning... not something you risk in a car like a scooby. I hope that Mr Power isn't still doing this "upgrade" to subarus... not sure about Evos either.

Please feel free to ask me questions offline if you want... I'd rather not get into a discussion about this on the BBS.

Bob , Moray

Clarey has my ex- STI III with the PE phase 1 as spare. When i spoke to David Power, he told me that he'd happily perform a 'Free' remap for the new STI 4 engine.

Clarey, Speak to David Power again and mention this to him...... it should be transferrable!

Hi Neil,

When i emailed David, i told him it was your (old) car, quoted the reg number etc. But i got the reply that they wouldn't do it.

Does anyone know if it can be removed, so i could sell the spare ECU to fund my new one?

Anyway i'm sure i'm going to 'link' my engine to another make of ECU soon

Phil.

Sorry about that then phil (Clarey).

Dave Power was obviously doing me a 'Favour'

Moray had the Phase1ectomy performed on his STi III ECU. Im sure he'll be able to advise you.

Don't forget to send me piccies of your car as Im still deeply attached to it (and missing it but not the running costs)

Cool

I did insist on Mr Power removeing his "upgrade" from my ECU when I had traced the intermittent loss-of-all-power and engine shutdown fault back to the modifications he had made to the ECU.

The ECU seems to have been fine once the PhaseOne had been removed... I had a close look at the board and whoever had removed the board had made a better job than the person who fitted it.

I don't actually use the JECS ecu much now.
