Can anyone help.
I have a MY00 turbo with 6500 miles on the clock. When I change gear under hard acceleration the car jolts(thus I am suffering from severe whip lash!!!!) Is it me, or is there a problem.

No there's not a problem.

I believe that this is caused by free play in rear subframe assembly which can move back and forth slightly on its mounting to the chassis (in front of and below the wheel arch). When you change gear, the torque to the back wheels forces the subframe back suddenly against the chassis causing a banging sound.

I think all turbos do this. I presume this is what you are referring to.

Not being mechanically literate, I didn't understand you explanation fully. I was just a bit worried when it happened as I have not seen any literature mentioning it.

Sorry to disagree DJB, but I would say that its probably driver error ( sorry Ian).
I would say that its probably going momentarily off boost and then snapping back on when it realises that there are enough revs on to give boost, I used to suffer with this badly until I learnt to drive around the problem, I now find that it's better not to change gear too quickly and let the boost do it's own thing, you don't really make progress that much quicker by changing gear faster, you just give yourself whiplash.
I hope you understood that, I'm no technobuff either, but I have done a few thousand more miles than you have.

It's a total different kettle of kippers, driving a scooby compared to my old car. Obviously I'll just have to drive some more!!! what a shame.
