Just started to have a problem with my MY98. When I lift off the throttle very gentle to the point when the car is going into over run, the engine cuts as though its stopped firing. Then given slight acceleration it cuts in again violently giving the car a kangaroo effect. This only seems to happen between 3 - 3500 rpm., ie outside this range the engine decelerates and picks up smoothly. The Check Engine light doesn't come on. Anyone help with an instant diagnosis, please?

Graham

Can't help, but your description sounds remarkably like my car's behaviour, although mine tends to do it around 2800rpm.

Of course, it doesn't always do it (never does it on days I take it to the dealer), and as yet I've found no pattern (does it in all weather conditions, no matter what petrol I use or where I get it from)

If you find the cause, *please* let me know

Paul
