When I bought the car, it had been fitted with a Twin-dump downpipe. There was no heat shield fitted, I presume because it will no longer fit. I've read you can cut it down modify it to fit.
My question is, is there any point?, should I source another or just leave it?

Leave it..

Some people say you need it and that you will heat other parts of the engine bay etc.. I used to agree..
But since removing mine to fit my FMIC pipework I have had no problems what so ever. I am sure you will be fine without it.

Only possible prob may be with the Clutch fluid container, i have seen a car with no heat shield which has a 'leaning tower of Pisa' master cylinder reservoir...

Never had any prob with mine though, and i did see my turbo glowing
