1.When stationary in neutral I am getting a noise which I am presuming is a rough running bearing of some sort, when I dip the clutch it disappears.Is this the release bearing do you think?
2.My clutch will need changing soon anyway, the pedal is at the top of its travel and according to bills I have the previous owner only replaced the plate, no new cover or bearing, can I use a standard 95 u.k turbo kit in my 95 wrx?
3.Is it advisable to change the spigot bearing at the same time?
4.Can you reccomend a good clutch fluid?
and lastly
5.I have changed a few clutches before but only on cars with FWD and transverse engine/box am I likely to encounter any problems peculiar to 4WD in line transmission, whats it like to line up, do I need a clutch alignment tool?

It does sound like the release bearing is on the way out.

Get the flywheel skimmed and fit a good aftermarket clutch. Helix or AP are the best. Fit all three parts, as £70 of bearing saving is daft when its £200 to chnge it.

The spigot bearings seem to last forever. Unless the clucth has disintegrated, creating lots of vibration, I'm sure it will be fine.

You will have LOTS of fun doing this job and you do need to align it. I would recommend you get someone experienced in Impreza clutches to do the job.

 

Thanks pete, any idea if a u.k clutch will fit, it seems it might be the cheapest option and I don`t plan to keep the car for very long. I`ll perhaps get someone to do the job.

 

Yep, you need a 225mm unit.
