Question

Hi, currently running the standard VF28 turbo on a P1 with Tek3 Ecu and Headers/Up-pipe/Full system etc but on the standard 440 injectors, and Standard Top mount I/C. My question is; would there be any benefit in BHP/Torque by fitting a VF22 turbo in place of the original?? It's just that I've seen a very favourable price for a new VF22 (Ps the VF28 is running Peak boost of 20-21psi)
Cheers,

I can't say for sure, I've never driven a vf22'ed car, but it's a fairly laggy design judging by comments on the varous forums. I'd suggest a VF34 or TD05 (FE) instead.

I can state that the vf28 is a *very* nice match for the fugly WRX (although the injectors limit things somewhat - probably better on a phase 2 Classic), so you should have no problem reselling your current turbo.

Agree with Richard, 22 is VERY laggy, I don't know how 34 or TD05 drive but in my MY00 I was very pleased with the 29 that is basically the same turbo with 28.
At the end is how you prefer your car, personally I wouldn't change driveability/torque with huge power in the upper area!
