Question

Something is wrong with my Sccobie, and I am very Sad.

There is a problem with the Idle speed, this has dropped to less than 400 RPM and occasionally stalls completely (usually when I least need it to!!) . For some reason when the fan is on, the speed rises to a more normal 800ish RPM. This then falls away when the fan stops.

Anyone got any ideas what could cause this, or is a visit to my local dealer the best option?

Regards,

MikeyG

Mikey,
Check all the pipes coming off your inlet manifold, I had a split in the one going to the MAP sensor this caused the engine to hunt when on tickover and sometimes stalled when the rpm dropped to low

Good luck

Hi Mikey,

What vintage is the car? I have an MY94 that used to run very rough down low and used to cut out ocassionaly when hot. I ran some fuel injector cleaner through the tank and the problem disapeared....This was the first and only fix I tried....havent had a problem since.
