Question

Is it worth removing the resonator from the cold air inlet?

I have a MY98 UK turbo with ITG filter.

Training WRX reckon that doing this with a high flow flat panel releases about the same BHP as going for a full induction kit - with less noise /

I have removed the resonator from my MY99. The car sounds much much better now. You can hear the dump valve going off and induction noice has increased. I have not changed the filter yet but this may be my next impovement.
I have run the car like this for a few thousand miles and there are no side effects. There is nothing to worry about. There are no problems with water coming in because the hole in the airbox is downwards looking and the air is sucked directly under the wing.
My advice is go ahead and remove it. Just be careful with those plastic clips when you remove the plastic cover of the wing.

Thanks for the replies.

Are there any instructions around for doing this?
