Question

Driving couple of day ago and saw a legacy turbo with a performancce exhaust on, but had a massive soot mark going up the back of the bumper.

Why is that?
Should I expect the same if I put a performance exhaust or just a backbox on?

Thanks!!!

Maybe he'd removed the cat. by installing downpipe, should probbaly be a bit dirtier!

Solution is to have a black car, then you cant see it :-)

Cool

might be well uprated with high boost.

I had to put some alloy protection on my cossie bumper as the flames used to burn the paint honest.

Yeah, just follow Rainbird at the Pod, his flames don't just blow out on the overrun, his exhaust lights up like a lighting up thing and just burns up the back of his car!

I went to the last RS Owners club day some time back at silverstone.
There was a white saphire cosworth, that blew flames out, except the flame stayed lit for a fair few seconds, a bit like the funnel on the oil tankers.
Looked kind of dangerous!

Cool

That was me IDRIS, doing it big style into copse i was told

I was right on the rev limiter in 4th at the braking point so the revs were at 7200RPM on full boost when i hit the brakes, hence mega flame outs, i was told they were 6 foot long, was it that ace?

Also i was hanging on to 4th through copse and not going to third like most of them, this made it more balanced and i could keep the speed through the corner up, with 350BHP there was enough power to do that, the more standard cars had to change down. It was great looking at all the spectators on the exit of copse pointing at me as i blasted out on full chat with the back tyres lit up in 4th. God i miss my cossy.

Took me ages to clean the burned soot of the bumper, hitting 155MPH down hanger straight, ye ha

johnfelstead,

I could not believe how long it stayed lit!
It only went out as you hooked round the right hander past the pits.

You was shifting big time!!!

Did you see the bloke in the black RS500, I swear he looked like he was on the limit, even the silver Skyline GT-R wasn't attempting to keep up with him.

See Ya!

I got the soot on my WRX when I ran over 8200rpm and the turbo sucked a bit of oil through.

Could also be the result of an octane booster.

Maybe he has a stash of leaded petrol

Yep, that black RS500 was a pucka 540BHP jobbie.

I was on road tyres by the way, most of the others in my group were on slicks. Made it very interesting in the complex as i had more power than grip big style, i was trying to limit the wheelspin to not completely destroy the tyres but after about half the day i just gave up on the idea and destroyed them.

The corner you are talking about is copse, mega fast if you are commited enough.

Did you spot the 4x4 PUMA malcolm wilson was driving, kicked its *** down hanger straight, he then kicked mine in the complex, what a laugh. I could see he was having fun, the passenger was crapping it though, they had won some ford competition for the ride.

I am looking at getting a cosworth powered westfield for the track next month and upping that to 330BHP, now that should be balistic.
