Cool

Hi all,
I am looking for people who has a pipercross induction kit fixed on their subaru.
I have a few questions which I would like to be answered!!

1)Does the idling rev goes up??? mine was idling @1,000 revs but suddenly gone up to 1,500 is this normal for the piperx??
2) It makes a similar noise like a whislting noise
when the tubro comes in!!! Is this normal too??!!
3) I have a spare hose which does not fix the nossle on the alumum expansion, is that right???
Sorry for wasting your time with these questions.
Regards
Karlo

Karlo,

Have you got the correct kit for the model year of your car ?

There should be two extra hoses connected - one small and one large (on a 93-96MY).

Are both of these connected ?

Idling has not changed on my car since fitting.
The car is a lot noisier than before but is only really loud on the over-run when the blow-off valve is activated.

Thanks

Gavin

Karlo,

I have just fitted a Pipercross kit (From Falkland Performance center. Great service, great bloke, Allen give im a call for all your tuning needs 01592 773677 )

The first thing I noticed was an slight increase in the tickover rate.

I think as mentioned you should check you have the right year.
There is one large pipe and one small off the aluminium piece where the resonator used to be. there is also one small straight bit of pipe that had to be blocked off.

If you have any pipes not connected this is wrong. but make sure they are blocked off or the system will not be creating the correct pressure etc.

There is a hiss as the Turbo spins up and then a huge dump of air as you change gear

If you need any more info I have the insructions I could scan then and send them over.

Hope this helps

Gibo

I have fitted the Pipercross induction kit to my MY99 and have not had any problems with the idle.
There is however a great increase in noise and you can hear the turbo building up and also the blow off valve.
But you should notice an improvement on in gear accelaration as well as a decrease in fuel consumtion.
As regard to the spare pipe they do make quiet a lot of diiferent kits for the various model years.
By chance I have a spare kit with a differnt cone that may just fit your car, unfortunatly you do not mention the model year of your car .
If you want to e-mail me I might be abe to help with the correct cone.

Why would there be a decrease in fuel consumption ?

Lee.

I can't answer the question, but it's also the case on my car.
Since I've fitted my induction kit, fuel economy has definitely increased. I believe it actually states this in the promotional material which may give the reason.
Would it not simply be down to the fact that as throttle response is better, less throttle is required to obtain the same performance?
Surely less throttle equals less fuel consumption?

Stef.
