Question

My car has decided to play up.

I started it this morning, drove 1 mile down the road and it felt as if it was running out of fuel, then the engine cut out completely.

Parked up the engine will start perfectly, runs for about 5 seconds then stops again as if it has had the fuel cut off?

The speedo cable is not connected as I was just about to fit the reduction gearbox and had pulled it out of the back of the speedo.

I dis-connected the fuel pipe and turned on the ignition, a strong flow of petrol came from the filter to fuel rail pipe.

It's now been transported to C&K via low loader.

Any ideas as to the probable cause?

Mike.

If you havent got the cable connected the car will not run the ecu gets confused as there is no information getting back from the speedo dont no the technical but mine did the same until I put the cable back on.You may have wasted a trip to ck.My moto is if it runs fine before work then after it dosnt chances are that is where to look first

Thanks Jay, that was just what the doctor ordered.

Car went by low loader at 4pm yesterday, (approx 2 hour trip). Received this reply from Peter this morning.

The trip wasn't wasted, I was going up there on Saturday anyway to exchange my mild steel twin dump pipe for a HPC coated one and to get the wastegate actuator replaced.
From Peter @ C&K
>MIKE, the cars now running, the speedo wasnt connected the select monitor
picked that up.the pipe was off the fuel pressure regulator this may of
happened when you were under the bonnet.the car is now boosting to 1.4 then
holding 1.2 bar with a new waste gate actuator, will look at the ecu and check
the codes again in the morning.
peter.

Now that's what I call service!

Mike,
May have gone over this before. What's been done to yours to hold 1.2bar?
You lucky Bstd.

Cheers
