Acceleration lift-off noise

Question

Hi

When I come off the power at about 3-4000 revs - it makes a sort of whining noise briefly.
It's an STi

Any ideas?

You may be hearing the standard recirculating dump valve, which would make a slight whooshing noise as the pressurised air bypasses the throttle body abd is returned to the inlet system.

U'll surely hear the noise unless yr turbo's jammed or something. It's a normal case as the turbo is still spinning n is slowing down.

Thanks for that, I forgot to mention that it has a dump valve on it, and yes that makes a whooosh sound, but there is a whine - a mwhaa kind of sound - that is present when lifting off the accelerator - but not at low speeds... Just seems a bit odd - sounds a bit odd as well?
