Im after some advice from anyone who is running a DIY Water Spray Kit.

Im deciding what reservoir to use. Am I better off getting a cheap one from scrap yard, or sticking a Subaru one in the boot.

Up till now Ive been utilising the Windscreen bottle however with the winter on its way, I need to use screen wash!

Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get the pukka STi tank from (I believe there are 2 types) and will it fit on the MY93 (ABS a problem??).

I'm sorry, what kind of DIY water spray U're talking abt? Into the engine or on the i/c?

 

Im talking about I/C Water Spray. Ihave fitted the STi Manual Switch and have a pump and the nozzles in place now, my question is, where is the best place to fit the reservoir.

Richie, best way is to use the wiper tank. it' easiest n U'll only have that to top every now n then when U go to a pump station. If U have another, U might forget n it'll be a hassel too.

 

I also have a DIY intercooler water spray and use the screen wash bottle (which has been drained).

I know that MRT in Australia (www.mrtrally.com.au) stock STi items and larger boot-mounted bottles.

They may work out cheaper even taking shipping into account.

Guys,my water injection didn't go dry on me wif the washer tank. I dunno abt the usage but I think it's sufficient.

 

Thanks for all your help guys. I now have a tank mounted in the boot from a scrapyard. Everything works peachy until the bottle runs dry. When this happens the pump has insuffiecient power to force a whole pipe full of water through the car. I guess Ill just have to watch the level.

By far and away the easiest method is to use the washer tank under the bonnet, however you cannot use detergent for the screen then.

PS if anyone requires parts to make their own system (Pipe, Bottle, Pump, STi Switches and nozzles etc) mail me for suppliers and prices, alternatively I can supply the parts.
I can also supply photos of the finished item.

 

How's the nozzle placed? It might not be strong at the pump, but can sure use some help from air turbulance. Let speeding air draw out water while U press the button. Have fun with some R & D.

I wasnt gonna post here (gotta keep some secrets)

But I couldnt resist...

I have a DIY system (although most say its better than the original) *ho-hum*

I have a custom made stainless tank in the boot (which also feeds my water injection - doh!! *there goes another secret*)

The tank has a 12V pump mounted on it.... which then goes via 6mm Nylon piping to the front of the car...At the front is a one-way valve (to ensure instant spray). At present it sprays over my top I/C via two nozzles (60 odd pence each). I have a manual on/off switch...and also an override switch. The water spray has an adjustable over-run (to maintain spraying while changing gear). It can be activated by boost (adjustable) and temp (adjustable by fitting a new temp switch).

I am just about to fit a level sensor in the tank... which will monitor the contents. Its fully baffled and sealed.

Erm.. I think thats it...

ps - Regarding the nozzles....each of my nozzles produce two jets... I make these jets hit the inside top of the scoop.... making the splash and diversify in the scoop... Covers the I/C lovely....

Is this another secret you've just given away? We now know you have one intercooler mounted on top ("my top I/C"), go on then, where is the other one?

well, Firefox's right. nobody will tell everything. some knowledge is by trial n error or some R & D work. so, there's been many hints n ideas. why don't U go try it out yrself various ways in hope of another invention. good luck.
