Dont forget, the parts are similar or same prices, its just the labour rates that will differ. As the Dealer sets this, not Subaru.

There is a bodywork service that is due at 12 months, 36 months and 60 months. They chuck wax all over the underside of your car, apparently and squirt it in to your crevices.(ooh err, missus)

If you have a look at your service schedule there are additional pages in the back that cover it.

One dealer admitted to me that not many people got it done and that the benefit was 'marginal'!

Is there any warrantee implication of not having the body service done?

There is a separate six year bodywork warranty aside from the three year one for the car. The bodywork warranty won't be valid without the work being done, but as the three year warranty covers the car, then the bodywork one is really only covering you for the three years after that...

or maybe not

Jocky - For what it's worth, my local dealer charge £55 per hour (plus VAT) for labour. My first service (Legacy 2.0) was around £135 all in. I've had the 12 month body check and that was £100 +VAT.

The body check is necessary to keep the bodywork warranty active. Don't know if you'll be covered on the 3 year warranty for bodywork problems if you don't have the check carried out, but I suspect that you probably won't be. Certainly, you won't be covered beyond 3 years.

When I phoned to book the body service, the dealer suggested that it's only really worth having this done if you intend to keep the car for a while. As I'm looking at keeping it for at least 5 years, I want everything fully stamped.
