I was speaking to Glen from Revolution (makers of the late spec grille for early cars) and he is in the process of costing a batch of late spec bonnet vents for the early cars. To gauge the response, I said I would put the word around.

If anyones interested, please post below.

The more interest the more chance of getting them. Theres also the possibility of new scoops too.

Richie,

Count me in. Definately interested in the bonnet vents (at the right price .

I don't know whether you saw an earlier post but Regal were also supposed to do late style vents for early cars. They said they did over the phone (the price was £45 + VAT per vent) and I asked them to e-mail me a picture or two. No reply as yet, i'm certainly not goin' to spend money on a product i haven't seen!

Anyway if Revolution decide to do them we'll be sorted!

Cheers,

Tone.

Hi Richie,

Yep, I'd be interested too. Again, at the right price and providing the fitting was not too difficult. I'd like to see some pictures too. How similar are they to the proper later vents?

Cheers

Richie

Do you have any info on the late spec grill for older cars as well? Is this the 'mesh' type as apposed to the horizontal bar type on the 94/95 cars? Do you have any prices on this, or a contact/URL I can use to find more info?

Cheers

As far as Im aware, the vents will be identical to the later ones.

Fitting should be as easy as removing the 4 nuts on the bonnet underside, lifting the vent out and reversing the process for the new ones.

If anyone knows of a different supplier, please feel free to chip in.

We still need to find someone to do a new scoop for an old bonnet.

Cool

The other bits you need to make your older car look like a newer model are the bonnet, grille and headlights... and maybe a private plate if you really want to hide the car's age.

Cheaper to buy a new car...

Actually, I had concidered buying these, but will settle for the vents, and maybe the grill.

Yes the grille is the mesh type and looks the same as the late one. It comes ready primered from Revolution (0191 477 0785) just needs a colour coat.

It costs £99 incl. Ill try and send you a picture if I can.

The whole point of the grille, vents and new scoop is to give a later spec feel without shelling out for the headlights and bonnet. It will achieve a very nice look for a fraction of the cost. However the Revolution grille does not fit the new bonnet if anyone ever upgrades at a later date.

Richie,
Can the new style grill be used as a direct replacement for the old one ? (without changing anything else)
Having parked next to a new spec scoob I honestly prefered my front end (96MY) apart from the grill ! Am I strange ? lol

A pic would be most appreciated !!!

Lets not have this deteriorate into a silly forum, the purpose of this is not to highlight the better looking car and certainly not the faster (MY00....??...hmmm).

To set the record straight, this grille from Revolution is a direct replacement for the old one. It fits independantly of any other bit so removing the need to do the whole front end. I quite agree the MY99> front bumper is very smart, but how much persuassion would it take someone to make one for an old car??...lets just push for the scoop and vents for now eh??

Richie,

the MY99 front bumper will fit to older models - I've got one on mine (I won't go into how I managed to loose the last one )

OOOOOPS sorry lads didnt mean for it to turn into a silly forum - just making a funny comment - ok????

I DO think that the MY00 looks good however and judging by the number of owners wanting their pre 98 cars to look more like a newer one I am not alone !!

As for quicker - well should we just say that the newer car is more powerful in standard form than older ones in standard form??? has that put the record straight?? either way its a great car we all have a passion for ... one is no better than another - just different .. enjoy the smiles

Peter (just an enthusiastic newbie!!)

Cool

RitchieC - I have had a complete 2000 MY front end (headlight, bonnet, scoops, grille and bumper)from Glen @ Revolution and apart from the cost for my 94 WRX it was well worth it - car looks like new + have added clear rear light clusters. I am sending pics to Glen next week.

I too am interested in getting hold of some new style bonnet vents for my 93WRX.

I have just got the STI V Upgrade grill from revolution, and shall be fitting it just as soon as paint is applied.

New bonnet vents will finish it off a treat.

P.S I also mentioned bonnet vent for a pre-facelift when I ordered the grill. So hopefully the message will be getting accross.

Thanks for the pic of the grill. Looks pretty good, but I think I'll just stick to the vents for now. Definitely interested, so as soon as you get some prices etc just let us know.

Cheers

RichieC - I will try to put some pics on the web (although I do not have a clue how to, but we have a scanner in the office - any ideas?)

Costs are:-
Late bonnet £331, scoop £196, 2 x 22B grills £99, 2000 MY bumber £235, spot lamp covers £80, P1 splitter £189, clear indicators £75, front grill £99, 2 x crystal headlights £444 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!, odds and sods including clear rear lamp clusters = £2167 (B****** Hell). But it is worth it - car look like new and has a much more aggressive nose - look like a black 4 door P1 (if there were such a thing). I decied to do the conversion as car has oinly done 20,000 miles. I will get pics posted soon.

AndyP:

You say youve got an MY99 Front Bumper on your MY94 car. Have you fitted any other MY99 bits also? Or is it just the bumper.

My point is, is it possible to fit the following combo:

MY99 Front Bumper
Revolution type grille (or will older one be ok?)

If so will the Bumper be OK round the MY94 Headlamps. It seems to be the problem lies with the whole area between the top of the front bumper and the bottom of the bonnet.

Hope this all makes sense

Richie

I reckon a new bumper and grille would do the trick......
