Unhappy

took the scooby for a service a couple of weeks ago and it has developed a starting problem. Initially when starting from cold the revs would surge to 3k then drop to 400 occasionally cutting out all together. Warm starts were o.k. I took it back to the garage who dipped the oil, said it looked like they had over filled it and promptly drained half a litre and said all should be o.k..
things improved slightly but today i had the same problem only worse, in the first 100 yards or so it nearly cut out 3 times, a bit of extra accelerator and all was back to normal.
Not being in the least bit engine savvy I wondered what you guys could guess is the problem so i don't seem a complete ignoranus when i go back and ask the garage to 'kindly remedy the problem' as it has occured since they started playing with the oily bits and was no problem at all with starting even in the deepest darkest coldest recesses of last winter, where it started 1st time, every time and did nothing untoward whatsoever.

Plugs?

changed mine on Saturday (@18k miles) because starting was not as good as normal.

The diff it also made to general running was most noticeable.
