Help with Alpine TV in import
#1
Please help!!
I recently bought an STI which has an after market Alpine unit, including James Bond style retracting/folding TV monitor and two remote handsets. Problem is, signal reading is very low, and picture is almost
non-existent.
Does it need a conversion kit, as the radios do when brought into the UK?
Someone mentioned PAL & NTSC non compatability, being the problem. What is the remedy?
(by the way, I don't know why anyone would want a TV in a car which definately provides its own entertainment, but it is there, and is now a challenge!)

Hi Albaco
You will not need to change the monitor, but behind the dash somewere is a TV tuner pack most of these are switchable for which country you use it in,also check there is a aerial connected to it sometimes just FM is not good enough, there is multiple reasons why it could be there the one that springs to mind is Satellite Navigation, take it to your local Alpine dealer if you are still stuck.

I was looking into buying my alpine head unit in the US where it's much cheaper. I was told that the frequencies used were different, but a dealer could "adjust" a US unit to UK specs for a small cash deal (£20 was mentioned!)
I would seek advice from an alpine dealer
