Speed Limiters(again!)
#1
Dear Fellow Scoobie Owners,
I know this topic has been discussed a few times before (I`ve read them using the search facility), but cannot find the exact answer I require. MY93 WRX has a mechanical reed switch speedo limiter, I want the clocks to read the actual speed after 115mph, so I thought about having a gearbox fitted to the cable, but can get my hands on a set of british (UK) spec clocks(at a very reasonable price). Can I directly plug in these new clocks in place of the Jap spec jobbies, or are the plugs different? I`m sure this should render the speed limiter useless? Any advice greatly recieved,
Cheers Proby.

The british spec mechanical MPH clock still has the reed switch in it.
Therefore with this switch and a Japanese spec ECU you still have the speed limiter - which cuts in at just under indicated 120mph
There are a number of companies that sell "black boxes" ( including Subaru Manchester) that intercept the pulses from the speedo before they reach the ECU - thereby overcoming the speed limiter.
