How easy is it for a mechanical novice to fit and exhaust (specifically scoobysport) rather than have to pay a garage to do it. Does it require a selection of tools that I won't have ? Otherwise I'll have to weigh up the cost of a trip to Pete's vs my local exhaust centre (if I can find one that will fit somebody else's exhaust).

Thanks

Andy

Andy, I fitted mine myself, took about 10 minutes, and 5 of those was getting the car on and off the ramps! It is held on by two bolts and two? rubber straps. Undo the bolts and slide off the rubber carriers (washing up liquid helps here). Reverse the process to fit the new one!

I got mine fitted at a small local exhaust/tyre place. Cost £15 Cash.

N.B. Kwik-Fit refused to fit it.

Its actually 2 bolts and 3 rubber straps. Its quite easy to do, as one of the rubber hangers is held on with a bolt, nearside rear. Undo the bolt, (Important note ne side of the bolt is welded to the hanger)undo the 2 bolts that hold the exhaust section together, remove the remainder fo the rubbers, and the exhaust is off, fitting is the reverse. I did mine in 15 minutes i think, but i was using a jack, ramps are safer and will take far less time to do.

A quick tip... pull the (2) rubbers off the car, rather than off the exhaust. Start with the inner, rear one and then the most forward one. The exhaust can then be twisted out of the rubber that's bolted to the car.

WD40 will help them slip off easily.

I'm going to try (I say try it might come out cr&p) to record a before and after when I get my exhaust fitted on Satuday. All I've got to do is find my microphone and plug in the tape deck. If it works out ok, I'll copy it up into a suitable location - maybe I'll even be able to do a "drive past" - neighbours will probably think I'm mad/sad :-)

Cheers

Andy

I had the Scooby Sport fitted with the standard filter for a week until I got a RamAir filter fitted at the service.

With the new exhaust and standard filter I think there was a slight reduce in torque at low revs 2000 to 2500rpm, however the car was much more free reving at top revs. I wondered if the reduced back pressure at low revs with the new exhust was causing the slight drop in low revs torque.

With the new filter filter fitted the low end torque was restored, and the engine still revs much more freely than before. IMHO Highly recommend modifcation, and what a noise when you open the windows in tunnels/underpasses!!!

I definitely recommend changing the airfilter if you're fitting a performace exhaust. I got the RamAir fitted by my dealer and seeing this is what Prodrive fit it won't effect the warranty either.

Andy, I received my scoobysport exhaust yesterday and had it on the car within 30 mins. My local National Tyres centre bolted the thing on with the greatest of ease. As Pete stated, I saw him using WD40 on the rubber straps to 'lube 'em up'. The whole cost...£10 cash - beer money for the fitter!

Are all you new scoobysport exhaust owners fitting just the exhaust or a filter as well.
I would be interested to hear your opinions (with/without the filter) on performance.
I know they sound great etc. but are there any negative points (however slight)? I have heard of one person who thought he had lost some low down torque (without filter). I know the dyno prints show otherwise but I want to hear it from a day-to-day driving point of view.

Thanks,

.Richard
