hi i have a problem with my gearbox its stuck in 3rd and my shifter has become loose and doesnt select any other gears ,any ideas any one does the box have to come out to reconnect the shifter or seletor

 

there is a "metal flange" on the back edge of the 3rd/4th gear selector set, which may of broken up,if so a piece of it may of jammed inside the synchro hub,you may well have no other choice than drop the box out, but as simple check, try draining the oil out and see if any metal bits in the oil. that will tell you how serious or not it is. If no particlas in oil, the a selector shift rod has jammed. If bits in oil, well, look closer to see if mettallic in colour or a brassy/bronze colour.

If mettallic colour, could be as suggested,

If brassy/bronze, then its a baulk ring fault.

 

do u know where i can get a diagram of the box from so i know wot im lookin at ,thx for your replie
