Question

I last changed the gearbox and rear diff oil on my type R V5 about 9 months ago before throwing a rod through the block. Gearbox oil was Redline fully synthetic 75W90 (super lightweight shockproof) and rear diff was 75W90NS as recommended by Redline.

SMG/Lateral Performance are undertaking a 2.33litre 450bhp+ build for me and I just know the gearbox ain't going to last too long!

My question is has anyone tried using heavier oils to protect the gearbox when power has been increased? Redline do a heavy shockproof gear oil that claims 75W250 EP rating with the viscosity of a 75W90 mineral oil. Is it worth a try? Nothing to lose I suppose!

Regards
Andrew
