Impreza Vs Supra
Anyone had any encounters with a Supra mark 4 TT? My friend claims his recently purchased stock model will embarass my stock MY00 UK Impreza Turbo on 0-60, 0-100 and on negotiating multiple bends (ie test track conditions) Any comments?
Hiya
No idea about the 0-60, etc. (although they ARE damn quick), but you can inform your friend that he is mistaken on the multiple bends thing.
On a big open track like silverstone my money would be on the supra, but on a handling circuit (ie test track) the scooby will be quicker, due to traction, weight, suspension mods, wheel base and general set-up.
Cheers

I thought we'd put an end to X vs Y questions. Nevermind...
MK4 TT Supe.
0-60: 4.6 secs
1/4 mile: 13.1 secs
Weight: 1.6 tonnes
Power: 326bhp
Top speed: up to 180mph
Slalom: 66mph
Lateral accel: 0.98g
In a straight line race, I don't fancy your chances. You'll probably have him for the first 100m (traction), but then he'll over-take without much real effort.
As for around the twisties, you'd be surprised how stick-to-the-road they can be. My money would be on the scooby though.
The real advantage though is tunability. £1500 will quite likely get him up to 400-450bhp at the crank, with the engine not even having to be opened till 600, and the block good for up to 1000 I believe.

Ernie, I would agree with Beef.
On Sunday we met up with some boys from the Supra club. (Kent blast)
There was a 450BHP monster there, looked beautifull too.
He showed us around the roads in Camber, and boy it was fast, but could he shake us? No way, he pulled away on the straights, and was looking very good on the twisties, but believe me, my stock UK turbo followed him for miles and never really felt underpowered at all!
