Question

Dear Scoobynet'ers,

Looking at fitting my Dawes I had on my last Impreza (MY00) to my WRX MY03. I would like to know how many others are using it with the standard MY03 (not STi). Also what boost increase are you SAFELY running.

Previously I was very happy with running MY00 + Dawes for over two years. After going much research, mainly here (thanks JB!) I was running circa. 20% increase in boost (just under standard fuel-cut) for reliable operation. Never had it formally measured (didn't want to) but my butt-o-meter felt nearly a 20% increase in power.

Thanks in advance for your feedback,
Steve.

I seem to remember people had troubles running dawes on MY01+ due to the cat in the up=pipe overheating with increased boost pressure...

Thanks for the feedback so far. It looks like the Dawes is not a very popular mod on the MY03 yet.

If I asked the same question for the MY99/00 that would be a different story.

Ok, the information regarding increased boost may lead to the first CAT getting too hot, and a subsequent CEL I would like to explore further.

Do we think this could be caused because the ECU does not have as much "play" with regards to fueling/ignition as the MY00?

Another way to explore this is to open this thread up to anyone who has an ECUTEK or PPP on their MY03. I know that ECUTEK remaps the standard ECU for improved performance but I think it also increases the boost by around 10-15 percent (hoping that someone can correct this if wrong). So if the boost is increased do we think that the first CAT will also exhibit this problem?
