How about going on an advanced/performance driving course? Will probably make more difference to the car's performance than anything you could do to it...
Anyway, is it still under warranty? If it's not, there are more cost-effective ways of getting more performance than the PPP.
Getting hold of an MY99 ECU would probably represent a worthwhile improvement, but before you proceeed with anything, have a word with your insurance company and find out how much they'll sting you for any given performance increase.
