Filled my tank right up today with fuel and ever since the pump has been whining really loud on idle. Its a motorsport fuel pump thta i had fitted about 8 months ago at falkland performand in glenrothes. The only other times ive heard it is when turning the ignition on but thats normal.

The car is still driving fine on and off boost.

Im just a bit worried by the whining.

Any thoughts??

Could have been dirty fuel, do you normally shop there?

 

Mine whines more than my Mrs! Its a trait of the higher flow pumps I seem to remember.

Fit a bigger exhaust and it will disappear!

Ive got a Blitz nur spec r and magnex twin dump d/p so id say the exhaust is big enough!! Havent been to tht particular garage for a while. Its just annoying that its never done it before now.

 

Well, to be fair, mine has whined from day one, but its running 4 bar atmospheric fuel pressure.

 

I run Walpro rated at 500hp and has the same thing.
Nothing to worry.
