Best Gaming PC: custom or pre-built ?

If you had the chance, would you custom build or buy an off-the-shelf jobbie and add to it ?
And is there much difference between the new ATI and GeForce top end cards ?

build your own.
I got a lot of satisfaction from building my own machine. Generally costs a but more but you get the components you want. If you can manage installing windows from scratch you'll be OK.
ATI seem to have the edge over nVidia at the moment but the vga card wars never look like letting up.

paying for the case and the service, 3 year warrenty, and a guy that will make sure you are getting the right system for what you want.
I made the fatal mistake of asking them if they would do a deal on 2 area 51s :P the answer was no 2 isnt enough..........

I agree, build your own every time. It does, however, depend on what you want to do with it. If your use is not graphics intensive you might want to trim in this area and spend more on a better Motherboard, for example.
