Hi all,

Just did an oil change on my JDM STI-7 (10,000 miles). Figured it
must be fully broken in so switched to fully synthetic (Valvoline - 20 - 50). My car took 4.75 litres. Is that too much...I have read that anywhere between 4.5 and 4.8 litres is fine ?

Cheers,
Ray

Hi Ray,
I think it varies quite a bit? One of the garages came on here & said to ignore the actual values in the handbook as all cars seem to take different amounts...
As long as it's not above the middle mark (a line, I think, rather than the notch) then it's ok!

Hey thanks Nom

Anyone else care to comment.

If I wanted to let a little out is it possible to loosen the plug slightly or will no oil come out unless the plug is completey removed in which case I would probably have to replace 2 litres or more before I could pop it back in....sounds messy as well ;D

Cheers,
Ray

Hey Ray, as mentioned in the other thread, if you loosen the sump plug off, you'll be able to slowly drain some oil out without actually removing it completely.

Take it carefully though, as you'll have to get it within a turn or so of coming out before the oil will drain at anything more than drip speed!
