As I will place an order on monday for a Walbro 255 fuel pump for my STI7 and regarding some informations, like the last one from MRT, saying that it could not be necessary to change the OEM fuel regulator with an uprated fuel pump, does anyone have a good explanation about this fuel regulator "problem" ?

In my mind, a fuel regulator is able to support a bigger flow without problem. What do you mean ? if some experts can answer, it will be very helpful for a lot of us because when some companies say that "you need a fuel regulator too" it could be also a commercial interest first !

 

if you fit an uprated pump the factory reg can't cope with the extra flow and becomes a restriction, you shoulkd therefore fit an adjustable regulator capable of handlijng the extra flow.

OK, as the one I've seen looks to be easy to install (Pro-Fuel regulator), I will order it. What sort of pressure should I use ? 3.5 Psi ?

The stock fuel pressure is about 43psi, at atmospheric, and you should set it to the same. Ideally, you need a reg' that can work to 90~100psi.

This is the next job on the list for me, will it be neccessary to remap for the uprated fuel pump and regulator?

3,5 psi was the wrong measure type ! 3,5 bar was the right one (50 psi).
As it looks to be too much, i will set it to 3.2 bar (45 psi).
