To all of you with Gruppe S headers, can you answer me a couple questions please?

Where are you sourcing them from at the £400ish pricepoint? The gruppe s website is US I thought the headers were coming in from Germany?

Has anyone fitted these to a 2002 car yet? I can't think of a reason they won't fit but can anyone else?

Would it make sense to fit a different 2" constant, flexi uppipe if I'm doing lots of trackwork?

Many thanks.

Oh, and presumably its the HKS replica ones I want? Oddly the Gruppe S site only list them as being for the 2002 car so thats one question answered.

Sourced mine from America.
They are for the 2002 cars but fit the earlier versions just as well.

Sounds like the same ones. Have you had any issues with them?

What setup are you running and what difference did you notice.

Importantly, how do they sound

Not had any issues with them since i spent the time making sure the joints weren't stressed when fitting.
Frst time i fitted them the bottom of the up-pipe gasket to manifold was blowing.

Since sorting the brackets at the up-pipe/ turbo area, no problems.

At tickover, sounds normal Subaru, on cruise, sounds quieter, at full chat....sounds like a bike!! Addictive.

Sounds great, can't wait.

Have you had them mapped in? What difference did they make?

What was the problem with the join at the uppipe / turbo???

thanks again.

Alan, I'd also be interested on your views on the headers in terms of remapping of the Link (Extra advance at low, middle and high end). Might change out the ported headers for these for when the TD05/06 arrives (getting butterflies now Andy)

Thumbs up

I think the fueling on the link will need the most changes when fitting the Gruppe-s headers, ie adding LOTS !
On Alans and my own hybrid TD05's the same power is produced at approx 0.3/0.4 bar less boost with these headers

Jeep I needed a lot more fuel...but I change turbo also...so hard to tell what made biggest difference....

But have the impression that the MD304 would outflow a TD05 when running low boost....but with headers that was not the case

Yep
Definitely changes to the fuelling needed.
I also notice that there are considerable changes to the ignition to be done to gain the full benefit of the headers (on my car anyway)

i.e. more advance!
