think you've answered your own question if dunlop recomend 26psi!!
did you check if that's a 'cold' or 'hot' pressure (would think its cold)

Stockcar, thanks for coming back. The Dunlop site only shows RWD and FWD, nothing for 4 x 4!
They give 26 psi which I think must be cold, some people have said 24. My STi seems to like a higher pressure to normal on road tyres (35 psi).
Will try 26.
Graham.

sorry, thought you had spoken to them!!
in our experience of most makes of race/rally tyres 99% have similiar needs.......set them cold at around the mid 20's, then monitor when hot.....normally do not allow to rise above 32 or below 30psi when hot

Cool

Hello again Pavlo. No, spent the money on my boost control and my daughter!
Just bought some P1 alloys and these Dunlop slicks came with them already fitted so thought they were worth a try this weekend (Shelsely Walsh Hill climb) Also, I was given some dunlop intermediate wets, realy soft like an Avon hill climb slick, so may try them another weekend. Will end up selling all the slicks and fitting the Kumhos along with Avons on my 16'' STi rims.
The grand plan!
Regards, Graham.

Stockcar, thanks for the advice. A hill climb lasts about 33 seconds(!)has very hard accelleration and a few hard brake points, so I doubt that the tyres will get hot in use.....Avon hill climb slicks however do get hot, and I think the inter wets I have are close to this softer compound.
Will let you know how I get on!
Graham.

911, cold slicks are known to have poor grip and can break away quickly How did you get on?

Well what a BAD day on slicks!
Put them on, looked good, set them at 26 psi and got to the start line. Set off to be met by a smelly clutch when dumping the clutch at 4500 rpm (normal hill climb start).
First left hander the car stepped out big time, then the same on the next righthander, weaved up the straight at 90 mph, and so on. This all happened in 38 seconds. Felt like the car had a flat on the rear. Not good.
For the second practice run of the day, put my Toyo's back on (16x205x50), set them to 35 psi and sliced a cool 4 seconds off the time down to 34.8 secs. My personal best is 34.11 so nearly there. The start time droped to 2.07 to cover the 64 feet marker (2 secs dead = 1G accelleration), clutch was fine all was well with the world, but the EVO6 was faster, the Audi Quattro the same too!
Must try harder tomorrow.
So, the slicks are for sale and I'll buy the Kumho's instead on the P1 rims!
Graham.
