MY '97 pulling engine off gearbox
Am I Missing something, Have stripped every thing off my motor prior to using a hoist to remove it from the car. That includes the 4 bell-housing bolts from the gearbox. Have had to use levers to get it split and now have a gap of say 15mm all round. Something is holding it, seems to spring back as I try to pull.....what???

Agree with Mr T.

Although it was for the gearbox but same priciple.. Mr Wallis kindly added pictures..
The bung on mine was flipping tight to get undo to remove the large pin.. had an allen key (10mm) with a bar on the end and thought the allen key was going to snap.
Good luck

Thank a lot..can be fun without a manual!!!
Pics are real good
Sending the motor to APIengines.com, has thrown a rod, we don't have the machine shops over here in the Island to do crank re-grinds etc
He's quoted me £1450 plus vat for a guaranteed rebuild
what do you think?
Cheers
