Saw in a motorbike shop yesterday they sold motul. so in i went and bout 2 x 4l of Motul 300v 15w/50.

I know the 15w/50 is right, its the 300v that i think may be wrong?

Should i have bought a different one?

Still not a bad price though when you take postage into account.

Thumbs down

That's typical, I bet a 1l bottle is nearly 1/2 the price of a 4l one aswell...crafty bu99ers

don't wanna worry you or anything....... but u know they do both bike and car versions of 300v 15/50..

Think the bike versions have EP additives for the gearbox... check http://www.motul.com

although they could just be selling the same oils in different bottles like some other oil companies?

Ahhh... why are things so complicated. Guess i have the bike one as it has a bike on the front. Just figured that was denoting the Competition aspect of the oil, as per the main text on the bottle.

Will this surfice or will it harm the engine?

Help

I know there is a problem putting car oil in a bike as the bike has a wet clutch (soaked in oil) and the extra lube bits in car oil makes it slip..

So I guess reverse must count in that it won't have the extra lubrication properties the car needs..

Is there a customer help line number on the bottle?

I think there is a serious problem getting good quality car oil over the counter... so if the bike oil does as a good a job it might be a solution..

Need to do an oil change myself..

P20SPD,

You can run your car with this 300v "bike special", it's strictly identical to car version in terms of lube properties.
But as it's has to be JASO (Japanese bike manufacturers association) approved, there are no friction-reducing additives.
You might be disapointed by the bhp loss... they're efficient and I bet you'll feel the difference.

If you care about power I would suggest an exchange.
