ive just noticed that when in first gear there is a whining noise, best description is it feels & sounds like i'm in reverse. Any ideas what this could be and is it normal ?

if it helps, Ive just (500 miles ago) had a new AP organic clutch, sti release bearing and lightened flywheel fitted.

Car is MY98 UK

Could be 1st gear synchro gone. Though it maybe worth taking it back to where you got the clutch fitted for a check...........
