2% for me in the Electronics industry.

Over the last 2 years, I've had:

a cut in paided hours (40 to 35) - still do the same hours though

5% cut in salary

(as have all others here)

hmmm, interesting, it seems that i am generally not alone then

The company i work for have never given me a pay rise based on inflation rates before, it has always been performance related on an individual basis. Since i have performed very well over the last year, i would have expected to get something more rewarding.

I know for a fact that the money is pouring in at the moment, so i cant see a reason not to reward the Technicians for their hard work. Apart from the obvious, they want the profits in their pockets
Someone mentioned bonuses, pah! fat chance here, unless you make it look like you are doing a good job and dont put any overtime in. I know that certain people on a fairly regualar basis get bonuses. There are a few of us that dont, and have never had a bonus for their efforts. They work just as hard if not harder. I personally think this stinks.
Its all supposed to be hush hush, but word ALWAYS gets round. Because of this its difficult to approach the partners about the bonus thing.

I'll report back when i have lodged my complaint Im seriously seriously fcuked off about the whole thing and i am going to suggest they up thier offer before i am forced to look for another job. There is a shortage of experienced Architectural technicians at the moment so it shouldnt be hard.

Those of you who said i should stop whining can kiss this

The annual salary review has come round again

Seems I have been a little optimistic this year. I have worked at the same architects practice for the last 14 years. And on the whole have had some pretty decent pay increases.
However, yesterday afternoon I was called in with partners for a general discussion and salary review. The discussion went ok and over the last year I have produced some good work. This was backed up by one of the associates before the meeting.

they told me “the rate of inflation is approx 3%, so we have given you a little more”. At the time I said ok, but then after I had thought about it, I realised that this was the worst pay rise I have ever had during my time at the practice

Basically I got a £800 per year pay rise, amounts to approximately £15 per week after tax? … Pathetic!

What do other people think about this? Am I asking too much, given that in previous years it’s been anything from £1000 to £2000 increase? its not like the money isn’t coming in, we are busier than ever and the number of staff has dramatically increased over the last few years.

I don’t expect anyone to post personal financial details….. but would be interested in what sort of annual salary increase people get

Admittedly my base is pretty good - but we've had a blanket freeze in place.

If you're doing the same job, then inflation is a reasonable rise - you get more when inflation is higher and less when it's lower....

 

2% just announced.

 

3.5 % NHS.

obviously it depends how the company as a whole is performing - ie can the company afford big increases. I am a sales director of a medium sized company. We have always paid reasonable salaries with an annual bonus. The bonuses can be a very large percentage of salary. Last year we unfortunately had to put a freeze on pay rises and no bonuses.
Bit of a bummer for my first year as director. This year will be very different.

Think also of what the public sector, nurses etc usually get and get on with yer work

I don't have a problem with my overall salary but times are hard at the moment. 0% last year, this year is looking no better.

Your company appears to be doing OK but try and verify this, look at turnover and profit to see if they really are.
Try and find out what the average increase is and compare against that.

Sore subject. If you don't get a raise in line with inflation then you're effectively getting a pay cut. That's why I'm narked at 2% every year since I've been here.

Yes, the IT market is crap at the mo but I'm not exactly on a huge wage, and what's more when I originally took the job it was for £x,000 per year. If they'd said at interview that in real terms my pay would be going down 1% per annum then I'd have thought again.

Many people can not even say that. I know of people who have had to take a 10% pay cut!

 

Given 2.5%, but I have asked for the company to do a market research, and also taking into account the similar jobs I have printed off around the area.
The only real way to get a bigger increase, is to move to another company.

Don't be too disheartened by it. I got a few hundred quid rise for the year too The markets are still a bit slow, as is investor confidence, so the reviews are going to be a bit crap for a bit longer

 

Got less that 2% for 3 years running... then salaries were frozen for 3 years. And I just took a new job for a 25% salary cut. If it wasn't for promotions i'd be less than 2k better off than i was 7 years ago.

4.2% rise I got seems quite nice now.

 

to be fair, why should people be given a raise higher than inflation? if everyone does, it devalues it in any case so you're kidding yourself. If you're doing a different job then argue for a re-grading or whatever. equally, unless you're in a job that should get performance bonuses, why should you be paid more because the business is doing better; would you be happy if you got a pay cut 'cos the business is doing slightly worse?

The reason the business is doing better is because we have good, established, experienced teams assigned to a project. Therefore we should be rewarded

If the business wasnt doing so well then i seriously would rather keep my job and not get a pay rise.

People here have taken a pay cut before during the recession to keep the business afloat. I was print lad/ general dogs body at the time. If i had taken a pay cut i would have been paying them

 

No idea what my pay rises are based on! I've been very lucky over the past 2 1/2 years in that new managment came in and have actually made things a hell of a lot better, especially salary wise, as part of the move to Canada I got a pay rise, and it was about pay rise time too, so I'm not complaining.
