240 or 250 bhp ???????????
Hi there,
Quick question for you guys.
I have just had my MY01 Wrx in yesterday for a full catless exhaust system, with Downpipe etc. and a K&N induction kit fitted.
What sort of horse power would I have now ????
Cheers
Phil.

When you say full decat, did you have the up-pipe changed as well?
Changing the up-pipe, down pipe, 2 piece centre and back box should see you in the region of 240 - 250 bhp. Sounds great as well
Sorry cant be more specific, have you checked the dyno's page to see if anyone with the same spec has actaully had the bhp recorded?

I am in the same position. My01 with turbo back decat, now looking to change up pipe and then Ecutek. Can anyone recommend supplier/dealer in North Notts, South Yorks, Derbys area who can supply and fit up pipe?

First let me say i am no expert.
The ecu is mapped for a standard exhuast with cats.
To get the best peformance from a de-catted exhaust you need to
get the chip remapped.
My car is an MY98 with just scoobysport backbox and centre.
I have been wondering what next as i dont really fancy replacing
the down pipe just yet. And the ecu tek dont work on an MY98

Up-pipe is only a big issue on MY01+ where the OEM up-pipe has a cat. For classic scoobs, a full decat only needs downpipe & centre.
With up-pipe, full system and ecutek, my MY02 gives 284bhp/272lbft, with a lot wider power band than OEM. Much fun!

Taylor - Mine was from Power Engineering, something like £650+VAT IIRC, which included a few dyno runs to check it was behaving and give the power curve. Still a long way from Aberdeenshire, I'm afraid!
J8ke - Articles I've read give mixed results - sometimes you don't get more power without a remap (see Autospeed article), though more often you do. Either way, you will get earlier turbo spool up - i.e. better power at 2500-3500 rpm. I got quite a significant improvement before the remap by just decatting up-pipe, full exhaust (APS sports cat) and porting the OEM headers. The remap made it smoother, more responsive, pull much harder around spool up and at 6000rpm+, and gave (I'd guess) about an extra 30ish bhp.
