Sell it and buy an import MY 98. Get 280BHP, climate control, rear wash wipe, folding mirrors, ally bonnet and a few quid as well.

Otherwise full decat exhaust, induction, and a remap will get you close I'd guess but probably not quite 280.

Thanks

Can't get insured for an Import so it's gonna have to stay a UK model.

Got the decat, induction, dawes.

Looks like a remap is next then.

Expensive though
The best way to go is the Link way, not cheap, something like 1k but if you get Bob Rawle to do it then your going to have a flying machine (just make sure you have upgraded brakes as 2 pots suck and i wouldnt like to even try to stop with these fitted!)

Cool

My MY99 with full decat, sti 5 intercooler, tek2.5 remap (not an option for you with <MY99) hits 60mph in 4.5s and 100 in under 13. This is a strong indication that she makes similar power to the imports @ 280bhp. Whether its 260 or 300 I don't really care the performance is there

You don't HAVE to remap it if you don't want to, although a properly remapped car will be better.

ECUtek is great for 99- cars (and that's the route I'd go if I had a 99-) but like me, you've got an earlier model. I have a 97 UK running nearly 330bhp on the standard ECU.(with a few bits bolted on)

If I were you, I'd do what you've done, decat, filter, Dawes (or other boost controller)
Up to you if you want to stick with the panel filter or not (for 280bhp it shouldn't matter)

Then it depends what you want to spend and how brave you are.

You can do it cheap and risky or a bit dearer and properly.

I'd uprate the fuel pump on a early car too, especially if it's high mileage.

Fit knocklink and Lambdalink and if you run decent boost (1.2 bar+) but you'll need an FCD to run this, then you should be knocking on the door of 280.

Mail me offline if you want and I'll give you some pointers.

Cheers
Rich

Motomc1,

Why have you got an FCD if you are on standard boost? What boost are you running?

Or by NO BOOST CONTROLLER do you mean a bleed valve?

On just filter and exhaust 272 is a bit optimistic unless you've landed damn lucky with a superb engine. Unless of course the standard ECU is a PPP one.

Cheers

Rich

hello no the fcd is for when i use the nos kit BUT even with the fcd on there NO bleed valve standard ecu ...it runs 1.1bar 1.0bar most off the time PE didnt now why Some think about the FCD changing the injector cycle ?????longer ???when i put the FCD on seem to pull much stronger

The FCD shifts the aim point for closed loop boost control hence your higher boost even without mechanical adjustment. Some cars do this some don't. The ones that overboost spike more would hold it if they had a FCD fitted.

Whilst atrocious, work out the compressor discharge temps and you'll see it is not bad considering
