Question

hi all,
just realised while going up hill in 5th gear doing about 70 mph....if I floor it in same gear then my knock link lights up all the way. it lights up all the way then drops then goes all the way up again, then drops and stays at the bottom light.

I do the same on level ground but no lights light up.

there are no mods on my p1, as yet just the wr exhaust system, I will be going for a tek 3 soon and changing to a nur-spec exhaust with an h+s d/p but cant help thinking , if it dets at standard then even though after the re-map maybe I will still have this problem or worse.

Although the sensivitiy is at max on the knock link.

Anyone had this problem on a standard p1 ??

p1 is right on the limit with fuel and if ur sitting at the lights and floor it or put the engine under load u will get det but the ecu will retard the ignition.my old p1 with decat and airfilter wld det away from the lights..remap is only reliable solution..water injection wld also help but mor hassle constantly refilling and hoping the jet doesnt get clogged and f--ck ur engine

It will probably det more after the exhaust is done.

Overboost can cause det, as can poor fuel.

Despite what is officially said I think a P1 should be run on Optimax AND octane booster at all times for safety.
