Red face

Just in the last couple of days my TDO5 has started making a noise like a jet turbine under boost

I read the other post on turbo whine but i'm not sure if this is the same thing?

Anyone else had this problem? Is my turbo on its way out or am I worrying too much?

Cheers

Has performance dropped at all?
I had something similar when my samco hose parted company with the intercooler! You'd notice that power wise, but thinking you may have a split hose?

depends on the noise. if it's on-boost, then it could be a broken compressor fin.

if it's coming up to boost, then it's spool up.

so could be pipe - dump valve ? fin ?

I have had the same noise on my TD05 for ages but not bothered with it. Still pulls and boosts ok.

And since putting on my STi iV Intercooler now get a Rushing air sound when boosting, but it still seems ok.

I have put on Samco's and check the pipe work over and over again but all seems ok.

just wish mine wouldnt peak to 1.4, then drop to 0.7, then come back to about 0.9 ... type for some decent solenoid control I think!

You know Brian you can change your profile now Maybe to something like:

"24/7 moaning over so my mates won't hit me!"

or

"Happy & smiling again since my engine re-build!" Although that one's a little too serious

Maybe we should start another thread in the muppets..."What should Brian's profile say?" LOL

Maffa, maybe the turbo is trying to tell you to loose some weight....

Hauling all that weight about, quickly around those corners is hard work on that poor little car of yours.

Dan

Edited to add: You could always buy a proper turbo!
