For those with SECS installed, what water temp (Coolant Temp) ranges are you seeing with normal highway cruising?

Its very strange, but some days I get a range regulated (presumably by the thermostat and fans) between 88 and 94degC. On other days its between 93 and 99degC. Figures are with aircon off.

Ideas? cheers.

 

84 to 88 unless in traffic..

 

I get the same as Fizz...but when fast running on motorway (just under speed limit - cough)...upto about 92. The fans should cut in at 96 anyway, and take temp down to 89 straight away. (this on MY02)

 

89 usually as I remember.

I agree with Absolute Shower...96-97 degrees then the fan cuts in (I guess) ....I set the alarm at 97 degrees !

Oil temps I keep more of an eye on but nothing above 98 degrees yet, presuming you have the SECS oil temp pressure senders. Interesting that water temps quite high but oil temps can be quite low.

Cheers guys, this thread is pretty old.

Why my temps were going mad was because my heater matrix had sprung a leak into the cabin. Since we never use the heater here, I disconnected it. What that did was to remove one return route to the radiator thermostat, which hence was not allowing coolant flow to the radiator when it should have been.

Solution was to "short circuit" the hoses instead of "dead ending" them. Car went back to 82degC during constant 100kmh cruise, with aircon off.
